Spring Forest Time Capsule

Two Corjl templates for a first-birthday time capsule: an 8 × 10 in sign that sets out the idea and a 5 × 7 in message card that guests write their wishes, predictions and advice on before the cards go into a box or a capsule. The sign's “Time Capsule” lettering is fixed artwork; everything else on it is typed.

The sign prints at 20.3 by 25.4 cm and the message cards at 12.7 by 17.8 cm — the same card size as the invitation, so they can be printed on the same stock and filed in the same box.

How editing works in Corjl

Corjl opens from a link in your browser. There is nothing to download, and a phone, a tablet or a laptop will each open the file, so the year and the child's name can be set the evening before the party.

Set the date the capsule is opened — the sample reads “when she is 18” — and save both templates as PDFs. The link runs for 90 days, extendable on request when a family wants a second copy years later.

What is not included

Questions

When is the capsule supposed to be opened?

The sign is set up for a first birthday and for opening on the child's 18th, and the sample wording is editable — the age you print is the age you choose.

How many message cards should I print?

One per guest who will write. The card is a 5 × 7 in template, so Corjl's PDF puts more than one on a page and the number is limited only by your card stock.

Can I change “Time Capsule” to “Memory Box”?

No — the words “Time Capsule” are drawn into the design and cannot be typed over. The date, the name, the opening age and the instruction lines are all text you can replace.
